Refinery products output in Oman exceeds 1.49mn barrels

Muscat: The total output of refineries in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of August 2026 amounted to 149.95 million barrels, a decrease of 2.4 percent compared to 153.70 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that total motor fuel production increased by 0.7 percent by the end of August 2026. The statistics also showed an increase in the production of regular M91 motor fuel by 0.4 percent to reach 11.40 million barrels, compared to 11.36 million during the same period of 2025.

Conversely, its sales declined by 9.1 percent, reaching 10.86 million barrels by the end of August 2026 compared to 11.95 million barrels during the same period in 2025. Its exports increased by 27.3 percent to 2.46 million barrels by the end of August 2026 compared to 1.93 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

Production of premium M95 motor fuel recorded an increase of 1.1 percent until the end of August 2026, reaching 9.56 million barrels, compared to 9.45 million barrels during the same period of 2025.

The sales of M95 motor fuel decreased by 8.5 percent, reaching 10,389,300 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 11,350,400 barrels during the same period in 2025. Exports also declined by 48.3 percent, reaching 362,900 barrels, compared to 701,400 barrels during the same period in 2025.

Regarding gas oil (diesel), its production registered a decrease of 6.4 percent until the end of August 2026, reaching 50.34 million barrels, compared to 53.76 million during the same period of 2025.

Conversely, its sales increased by 1.1 percent, reaching 13.80 million barrels, compared to 13.65 million barrels during the same period in 2025. Its exports also declined by 10.4 percent, reaching 38.67 million barrels until the end of August 2026, compared to 43.16 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

Jet fuel production also increased by 15.5 percent by the end of August 2026, reaching 19.75 million barrels, compared to 17.10 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

While its sales declined by 5.0 percent, reaching 3,037,500 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 3,197,000 barrels during the same period in 2025, its exports increased by 27.8 percent, reaching 16,609,800 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 12,991,800 barrels during the same period in 2025.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production decreased by 2.7 percent by the end of August 2026  reaching 7.44 million barrels, compared to 7.65 million barrels during the same period of 2025.

Its sales also decreased by 20.7 percent by the end of August 2026, reaching 2,017,600 barrels, compared to 2,545,000 barrels during the same period in 2025.

In contrast, its exports increased by 5.4 percent, reaching 2,396,600 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 2,272,900 barrels during the same period in 2025.

Naphtha production recorded an increase of 5.1 percent by the end of August 2026, reaching 26.19 million barrels, compared to 24.92 million barrels during the same period of 2025.

Its sales also increased by 4.7 percent, reaching 9,607,700 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 9,175,500 barrels during the same period in 2025. Its exports rose by 3.3 percent, reaching 16,953,000 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 16,406,400 barrels during the same period in 2025.

The production of other refinery products recorded a decrease of 14.2 percent by the end of August 2026, reaching 25.25 million barrels, compared to 29.43 million barrels during the same period of 2025.

Sales of other refinery products declined by 19.6 percent, to 21,219,900 barrels by the end of August 2026, compared to 26,383,900 barrels during the same period in 2025.

Its exports decreased by 13.8 percent by the end of August 2026, reaching 5.96 million barrels, compared to 6.91 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

NCSI statistics further showed that gasoline production increased by 1.8 percent, reaching 123,200 metric tonnes by the end of August 2026, compared to 121,000 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025. Gasoline exports also rose by 1.6 percent, reaching 121,000 metric tonnes by the end of August 2026, compared to 119,100 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025.

Paraxylene production also recorded growth of 5.8 percent, reaching 425,300 metric tonnes by the end of August 2026, compared to 402,100 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, exports decreased by 1.8 percent, reaching 427,400 metric tonnes, compared to 435,300 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025.

Polypropylene production decreased by 25.5 percent by the end of August 2026, reaching 177,100 metric tonnes, compared to 237,700 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025.

Despite the decline in production, polypropylene sales increased by 26.7 percent, reaching 24,900 metric tonnes by the end of August 2026, compared to 19,700 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025. Conversely, exports decreased by 12.4 percent by the end of August 2026, amounting to 149,100 metric tonnes, compared to 170,200 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025.
