Salalah: The Summer Scout Camp for the Senior Scout Phase officially commenced on Wednesday at the Permanent Scout Camp in the plain of Jabal Ashur area of Dhofar Governorate.
Organised by the Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate General of Scouting, Guiding and Student Activities, the camp is being held under the theme "Our Future Lies in Our Values" and will run until 17 August 2026.
Approximately 300 scouts and scout leaders from various governorates across the Sultanate of Oman are participating in the camp. The event aims to reinforce humanitarian values and principles across multiple domains, harness the energies of youth to showcase and develop their talents, and prepare a generation capable of innovation, self-reliance, and effective time management.
The camp features a diverse array of programs and activities that integrate practical, applied and theoretical dimensions through workshops, skill-based exercises and creatively oriented scouting activities. These include sessions on artificial intelligence, Omani identity, e-commerce skills and risk management, in addition to interactive seminars addressing volunteerism and its impact on community service, road safety and accident reduction, as well as teamwork, cooperation and initiative.
The camp also incorporates purposeful tourism and recreational activities designed to instill positive energy in the scouts, foster a love for nature and acquaint participants with the natural assets and tourist attractions in Dhofar Governorate.
