Oman Sail concludes Summer Training Camp in Ras Al Hadd setting the stage for 2026 Oman Sailing Championship

Muscat – Following six weeks of intensive technical and physical conditioning in Ras Al Hadd, Oman Sail has officially concluded its Summer Training Camp. Taking advantage of the region’s exceptional summer wind conditions, national sailors across the Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, and 29er fleets spent the season building tactical sharpness, technical mastery, and athletic endurance.

Hashim Al Rashdi, Head Coach Performance at Oman Sail, said, "The dedicated training blocks in Ras Al Hadd over July and August allowed us to push our sailors to their limits in ideal conditions. We saw remarkable progress in technical precision, tactical decision-making, and endurance across all fleets. Wrapping up this camp leaves our sailors sharp, confident, and fully prepared to test their skills in high-stakes competition at the Oman Sailing Championship."

With up to 12 races scheduled across five days, the Oman Sailing Championship will demand consistency, adaptability, and high mental fortitude. Bringing together our domestic talent alongside international competitors from the UAE and Sri Lanka ensures world-class racing standards on the water."

The camp served as an essential springboard for its immediate next highlight: the upcoming Oman Sailing Championship, taking place from 14–18 August 2026 in Ras Al Hadd where sailors will compete in a rigorous racing format featuring up to 12 races per class, capped at a maximum of three races per day.

The championship will feature more than 64 elite sailors competing across the Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7 classes. The roster includes 50 top talents from Oman Sail’s national sailing schools alongside 14 international competitors from the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka, showcasing the nation’s growing status as a regional sailing hub and Oman Sail’s ability to provide sailors with the platform to develop as professional athletes and motivated members of society. 

The event is organised in partnership with the Oman LNG and Oman Marine Sports Association.
