HH Sayyid Theyazin receives FAO Director-General

Muscat— HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs received today Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and his accompanying delegation, as part of his current visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

During the meeting, they reviewed the cooperation relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the FAO, particularly in the agricultural, fisheries, and food sectors. They also explored ways to develop and strengthen the partnership in line with national priorities and the objectives of sustainable development.

Sayyid Theyazin emphasized the importance of the FAO's continued efforts in implementing its programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing global food security and addressing challenges affecting the sustainability of food supply chains, especially amid rapid global changes.

For his part, the Director-General of the FAO expressed his appreciation for the role undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman in supporting international efforts in fields related to food security. He affirmed the Organization's commitment to expanding areas of cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman and exchanging expertise, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
