
Muscat: Total electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of December 2025 registered an increase of 5 percent to reach 51,612.3 gigawatt-hours, compared to 49,132.0 gigawatt-hours during the same period in 2024.
Preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that net electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman - which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company by region - increased by 4.4 percent to reach 50,160.6 gigawatt-hours by the end of December 2025, compared to 48,047.2 gigawatt-hours by the end of December 2024.
Regarding water production, total production in the Sultanate of Oman up to the end of December 2025 registered a decrease of 1.9 percent, reaching 509.9 million cubic metres, compared to 519.7 million cubic metres during the same period in 2024.
At the governorate level, Muscat Governorate witnessed a decrease in water production of 12.5 percent, reaching 204.1 million cubic metres compared to 233.3 million cubic metres during the same period in 2024.
In contrast, water production in Dhofar Governorate increased by 2.7 percent to reach 76.2 million cubic metres by the end of December 2025 compared to 74.2 million cubic metres until the end of December 2024. Water production in the rest of the governorates also increased by 8.2 percent, reaching 229.6 million cubic metres by the end of December 2025 compared to 212.2 million cubic metres during the same period in 2024.
