OMR22,000 recovered for consumers in Muscat

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Department in Seeb managed to recover more than OMR22,000 for a number of consumers in August this year, the authority revealed on Sunday.

The labour services sector topped the list of sectors with the most recoveries, with a total of OMR12,335.

Ziad Al Wahaibi, Director of the Complaints Department said: "This recovered amount came as a result of the authority's efforts in preserving consumer rights, and for the resolution of complaints that we received, and the department is working hard to carry out its mission to protect the rights of consumers in accordance with the legal procedures in this regard."

Statistics indicate that the returns were distributed across a number of sectors. The labour services sector was followed by the construction sector with OMR4,646.4 in returns, and the aluminium workshops, blacksmith, and carpentry sector with a total amount of OMR3,250 in recoveries.

In the vehicle repair workshops sector, OMR875 was recovered, while OMR380 was recovered in the spare parts sector. Recoveries from complaints filed in the electrical appliances, telephones, and services sector, and in the clothing and textiles sector amounted to OMR846.
