Al Buraimi--- The Governorate of Al Buraimi today began to implement events associated with an urban planning and sustainability programme codenamed "Urban October 2026". The programme is organized by the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate under the theme "Happy and Prosperous Cities".
The 3-day event was inaugurated under the patronage of Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi.
The programme’s activities include an exhibition comprising over 21 pavilions that showcase key urban projects that were carried out by a number of government departments and private sector establishments. The exhibits also included 14 working papers on urban planning and urban sustainability. The papers were delivered by experts from academic and educational institutions.
An endowment hackathon will be held on the sidelines of the programme under the slogan "Endowment for a sustainable impact". The hackathon, which will see the participation of 12 teams, is a joint initiative undertaken by the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning and the Department of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Al Buraimi. In addition, there will be competitions and other activities to promote the concept of urban growth.
