Oman exporters to explore trade opportunities in Kazakhstan

Muscat: Oman Exports, under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, will organise bilateral business meetings between Omani exporting companies and their Kazakh counterparts in Almaty next Tuesday to expand non-oil exports and strengthen trade ties with Central Asia.

The three-day programme aims to connect Omani exporters with importers, distributors and businesspeople in Kazakhstan, explore new market opportunities and establish partnerships that support the international expansion of Omani products in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The meetings will feature pre-arranged business matchmaking sessions involving the Omani delegation and around 100 to 150 Kazakh companies and businesspeople, alongside market briefings and field visits to relevant institutions. Participating companies will also explore opportunities to sign memoranda of understanding and establish long-term commercial partnerships.

Lubna bint Mohammed Al Harthi, Director of the Export Development Department at the ministry, said the initiative would provide a direct platform for Omani companies to engage with Kazakh importers and business leaders, understand market requirements and explore opportunities for long-term contracts.

She said Oman Exports seeks to help national companies turn business interest into concrete commercial deals, adding that Kazakhstan offers a promising gateway to neighbouring Central Asian markets due to its strategic logistics position.

Priority sectors include pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, food and fish products, marble and building materials, aluminium, metals and petrochemicals.

Al Harthi noted that growth in bilateral trade during the first half of 2026 highlighted the potential for further expanding economic cooperation between Oman and Kazakhstan.

The initiative forms part of Oman Exports’ plans to promote national products in priority international markets during 2026 and 2027, strengthen export channels and leverage Oman’s ports and logistics infrastructure to facilitate trade.

The programme is also expected to help export-ready small and medium enterprises access new business networks and distribution channels, enhancing the reach and competitiveness of Omani non-oil products in regional and international markets.
