RAM launches Leadership and Logistics Programme

Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) has launched the Leadership and Logistics Programme in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The programme prepares senior leaders from government and the private sector to guide Oman's logistics sector through a period of rapid change.

Thirty leaders are taking part over 12 days and three modules. They include directors general and assistant directors general from government entities, as well as private-sector leaders of equivalent rank. Logistics and supply chains are becoming more complex, and they are changing faster.

The programme gives leaders the strategic, commercial and operational perspective they need to anticipate challenges, improve organisational performance and keep the sector competitive over the long term in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.

Dr Ali Qassim Al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management, pointed out that RAM’s strategic partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is rooted in the firm belief that investment in logistics infrastructure must be matched by investment in the leadership capabilities needed to guide it. By bringing together RAM role as a national centre of expertise in leadership development and the Ministry’s responsibility for advancing the sector, the partnership embodies institutional collaboration and the principle of working as one government team. It also provides a model that can be adapted across other sectors of national priority.

He emphasised that the Leadership and Logistics Programme provides a platform for developing a new leadership perspective: one that connects day-to-day operational decisions with national priorities, shifts the focus from managing costs to creating value, and encourages leaders to look beyond their own organisations to the wider ecosystem. The programme combines strategic vision with a comprehensive understanding of the logistics ecosystem, enabling participants to interpret rapid geopolitical, trade and technological changes and turn them into opportunities that strengthen national competitiveness and advance the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Sanaa Al Busaidi, Programme Supervisor, explained that the programme’s design focuses on building an integrated leadership perspective among participants, combining strategic, commercial and operational dimensions and strengthening their ability to understand how the different components of the logistics ecosystem connect. She noted that the programme covers a number of focus areas, including strategic leadership in logistics, commercial acumen and value creation, end-to-end supply chain excellence, and stakeholder and ecosystem leadership, as well as global market intelligence and geopolitical awareness.

The programme centres on strategic leadership in logistics, commercial acumen and value creation, end-to-end supply chain excellence, stakeholder and ecosystem leadership, global market intelligence and geopolitical awareness.

A central theme is the link between day-to-day operational decisions and wider goals: organisational growth, national priorities and the sector's long-term competitiveness. Participants are encouraged to move away from thinking driven mainly by cost and operations. The goal is a more commercial, value-driven style of leadership. Participants examine how data, analytics and emerging technologies can raise performance, resilience and competitiveness across supply chains, ports and shipping. They also look at the wider global context: shifting markets, geopolitical developments and the complexities of international trade, and how each shapes decision-making in Oman's logistics sector.

The learning is delivered through three modules. The first, Strategic Leadership in Logistics and Supply Chains, examines the trends and structural shifts reshaping the sector, and how leaders can turn them into clear priorities and sound decisions. Commercial Capabilities and End-to-End Supply Chain Excellence then sharpens participants' commercial perspective and explores how supply chains connect, with particular attention to ports and logistics. The final module, Building a Future-Ready Logistics Ecosystem, looks ahead to the sector's next phase and considers how digital technologies and emerging innovations could reshape supply chain, port and shipping operations.

With the Leadership and Logistics Programme, RAM continues to build specialised national leadership in sectors of strategic importance to the Sultanate of Oman. The programme supports a more competitive, resilient and future-ready logistics sector, and the long-term objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
