New Delhi: India and Australia have concluded the 13th round of their Army-to-Army Staff Talks in New Delhi, with the three-day dialogue focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and expanding military engagement between the two countries.
The talks, held from September 28 to 30, brought together senior military officials from both sides to discuss cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) said the discussions reaffirmed the strong partnership and mutual trust between the two armies. The two sides also explored ways to further strengthen defence cooperation and broaden the scope and scale of bilateral military engagement.
As part of the visit, the Australian delegation visited the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) in New Delhi, where the officers exchanged views on contemporary security challenges. The delegation also paid homage to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial.
The Army Staff Talks form part of a wider defence engagement between India and Australia, which includes military exercises, training exchanges and high-level visits.
The two countries have also agreed to expand India’s participation in Exercise Talisman Sabre in 2027. In addition, the first India-Australia joint staff talks involving all three services are scheduled to take place later in 2026.
The latest round of Army Staff Talks underscores the growing military-to-military engagement between India and Australia as both countries seek to deepen defence cooperation and coordination across the Indo-Pacific.
