Gaborone: A number of officials in the Republic of Botswana have affirmed that the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Republic of Botswana on Wednesday, carries strategic diplomatic and economic dimensions of paramount importance to the Botswanan side.
This visit, they have affirmed, will elevate bilateral relations from the stage of foundation-laying to broad economic and investment horizons.

Earlier this year, the Sultanate of Oman and Botswana signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, which culminated in the establishment of a massive solar power plant in the Maun region of Botswana.
For his part, Timo Donald Ntabo, Executive Director for Export Development and Promotion at the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, said that this visit affords Botswana an opportunity to deepen its economic relations and promote economic diversification across various sectors with the Sultanate of Oman, including agriculture, financial services, energy and mining.
He added that reciprocal visits and the swift execution of projects bolster economic diversification efforts, enhance the added value of natural resources, and establish manufacturing industries in Botswana, which is richly endowed with natural resources such as copper, diamonds and coal.
