
Muscat: The Main Committee of the Media Excellence Competition 2026 held its third meeting under the chairmanship of Mohammed Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and Chairman of the Committee.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the progress of the evaluation process for the competition's submitted entries, which is being conducted through an electronic system representing a qualitative leap in the history of the competition's editions. Submissions were received via digital forms, and the screening and referral process to the judging panels was carried out for electronic assessment.
The Committee was briefed on the various activities of the competition, including the accompanying events, namely preparations for organizing a workshop on writing television drama scripts and a lecture addressing creativity and innovation in the era of artificial intelligence, in addition to discussing preparations for the competition's closing ceremony, scheduled to be held next month.
The Ministry of Information had announced the opening of nominations for participation in the Media Excellence Competition 2026 from 6 May to 14 June 2026, across the fields of journalism, radio and television, and electronic media. The competition targets media institutions, individual practitioners and those interested in media, as well as media students at academic institutions and media content creators.
The competition aims to motivate national talent toward media creativity and innovation, raise the level of professional quality in media institutions, highlight national media capabilities and recognize their achievements, and consolidate the role of national media as an active partner in realizing Oman Vision 2040.
