Muscat: The Wilayat of Salalah is currently witnessing the implementation of the Car City project, which will be a comprehensive and specialised destination for the automotive sector and related services in the Dhofar Governorate.
The project is being built on an area of 53,000 square meters, with the first phase costing OMR 6 million , which includes construction, development, and equipping the project's basic components.
The project, being implemented by Al Amal Al Daem International Company in partnership with Dhofar Municipality, includes a wide range of activities such as car showrooms and dealerships, maintenance centers, spare parts, tires and batteries, car care services, finance and insurance companies, banks, in addition to supporting commercial services.
Faisal bin Alawi Al Dheeb, Managing Director of Al Amal Al Daem International Company, confirmed that the project is witnessing continuous progress in its implementation. The project is currently 45 percent complete, with the first phase expected to be finished by May 2027.
Faisal bin Alawi said that the project aims to create an integrated destination serving the automotive sector, bringing together all the services needed by customers in one location. These services include car showrooms, maintenance and spare parts, car care, financing, insurance, banking, and other supporting commercial services.
He added that the project is designed for long-term leasing, with the first phase focusing on building a mix of tenants and selecting businesses and brands that add real value to the project and enhance its appeal and sustainability.
" Salalah was chosen based on a combination of economic, demographic, and tourism advantages enjoyed by the Dhofar Governorate, coupled with the expanding commercial activity and high demand for automotive services, especially during the Khareef (monsoon) season."
The initial booking period for sites and rental spaces has been opened to local and international companies and institutions wishing to join the Salalah Auto City project. This aims to give them the opportunity to select suitable sites and spaces early, especially since some activities require specific specifications regarding entrances, facades, interior spaces, and technical services.
It is expected that the project will have a positive impact on several related sectors, such as contracting, supply, and technical services during the construction phase, and on operations, employment, logistics, hospitality, and marketing during the opening phase. Furthermore, it is anticipated to enhance competition, improve service quality, and provide consumers with a wider range of choices.
