
Salalah: The Governorate of Dhofar is hosting a forum on legal legislation for systems of management of documents and archives, which will be held from 17 to 19 August 2026.
The forum is being organized by the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA).
The forum’s opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsin Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, in the presence of Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dhawyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority, in addition to officials and specialists in the field of records and archives management and representatives of government units.
The event seeks to raise public awareness about legal frameworks governing records and archives management, consolidate the efficiency of the records management system, support institutional governance and preserve records as a vital component of the national memory.
The forum also serves as a platform for exchanging expertise and showcasing national experiences in implementing records and archives management systems. It highlights the best institutional practices that have contributed to the development of this sector, enhanced knowledge sharing and promoted integration among government entities.
The programme of the forum includes working papers by experts and specialists, a review of government experiences and discussions on key challenges and practical solutions, in addition to ways of contributing to the development of a comprehensive document management system based on best practices and institutional performance efficiency.
The forum reflects the NRAA’s commitment to develop the regulatory environment of the documents and archives system and to bolster the partnership between government departments in a manner that contributes to digital transition. -ONA
