Salalah: The 15th GCC Conference on Developing Human Resources Productivity opened today at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.
The two-day conference is being held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
Naif bin Hamid Bait Fadhil, member of the conference's organizing committee, said in a speech that the event takes the title "Quality of working life: Towards a stimulating work environment, sustainable productivity".
He explained that the conference’s themes reflect a modern global trend affirming that productivity is no longer measured solely by the volume of outputs, but rather by the ability of institutions to foster a positive work culture and humane leadership, in addition to establishing a work environment that stimulates innovation, promotes sustainability and enhances competitiveness.
Global experiences proved that institutions that invest in the quality of working life achieve higher levels of productivity and have higher rates of innovation and lower employee turnover and burnout rates, said Bait Fadhil. He added that the findings show that such institutions become more capable of attracting talents and retaining them in a manner that directly influences the growth of the national economy.
The conference seeks to keep pace with ongoing rapid change in business environments and to contribute to the establishment of more competitive and sustainable institutions, said Bait Fadhil. This, he said, is achieved by outlining steps for shifting to smart work environments, measuring productivity indicators, promoting human leadership and highlighting the importance of mental health and job well-being as a fundamental pillar of sustainable productivity.
The conference is organized by Alassayel Company for Conferences, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, and Dhofar Governorate’s branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in strategic partnership with OQ Basic Industries.
It aims to develop a practical roadmap for integrating job well-being with productivity and envisaging future work environments in view of the global digital transition drive.
The conference focuses on many themes, including the shift from a traditional work environment to a smart work environment, measuring basic indicators in work environments, stressing the impact of humane leadership, mental health and job well-being in boosting sustainable productivity.
