Temperature crosses 47.5 degrees in Oman

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is experiencing a significant surge in summer temperatures, with the weather monitoring stations recording exceptionally high readings across several wilayats.

According to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority’s meteorological stations, Al Rustaq recorded the highest temperature over a 24-hour period, reaching a scorching 47.5°C. Other regions closely followed this intense peak, with Fahud registering 47.2°C and Dama Wa Al Tayeen hitting 47.0°C.

The heatwave has extended across multiple governorates, pushing mercury levels well above the mid-40s. Al Amerat and As Sunainah both recorded 46.9°C, while Bidbid and Bidiyah reached 46.7°C. Other areas experiencing severe heat include Al Qabil and Samail at 46.6°C, alongside Al Awabi and Saham, which both registered 46.5°C.

With temperatures consistently crossing these high thresholds, authorities continue to monitor the weather patterns to ensure public awareness and safety during the peak summer months.
