MUSCAT: Prashant Pise, presently serving as Additional Secretary in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, according to official diplomatic appointment announcements.
A 1995-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, Pise has extensive experience in the Middle East and North Africa region, having previously served in diplomatic assignments in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Iraq. He has also held postings in Japan, Mauritius and the United Kingdom.
Before his latest appointment, Pise served as Ambassador of India to Iraq and later took charge as Additional Secretary handling emigration policy and welfare-related matters in the Ministry of External Affairs.
His appointment comes at a time when India and Oman continue to strengthen cooperation across trade, energy, maritime security, investment and people-to-people ties. Pise is expected to assume his new assignment in Muscat shortly.
