Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) recently its issued 2025, which documents the accomplishments of the NCSI and the Centre’s initiatives that enhanced its position as a national reference for official data and statistics.

The report, which outlined prominent achievements made by the NCSI during 2025, affirms that the NCSI constitutes a key supporter of planning and decision-making in the Sultanate of Oman. It showed that the NCSI focused on developing the system of statistics and raising the efficiency of institutional performance.

The NCSI launched the National Strategy for Statistics and Information (2025–2030), which aims to unify relevant methodologies and enhance data integration in a manner that serves the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The NCSI obtained the “ISO 27701” certificate in the field of data protection and privacy. The step affirms the commitment of the NCSI to apply global standards and to enhance confidence in official data.

In terms of digital transition, the report referred to the implementation of the first survey of household income and expenditure through the use of intelligence technologies. This contributed to improving data quality and supporting economic and social indicators by offering greater accuracy and efficiency.

The report showed that 2025 saw the signing of memoranda of understanding with local and regional parties—including the General Authority for Statistics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to forging academic partnerships with other parties to develop national competencies and upgrade scholarly research.

The report also indicated that the NCSI maintained active regional and international presence by hosting Arab meetings and participating in international forums and conferences. This reflects Oman’s growing role in supporting statistical proficiency and exchanging expertise.

The report highlighted the significance of data in backing the national economy through the implementation of specialised statistical surveys, the launch of new indicators, in addition to providing accurate data to analyse economic performance and guide development policies. -ANI
