Global trends and challenges facing aluminium scrap recycling sector to be discussed

Muscat: The third edition of the Aluminium Scrap Recycling Symposium will commence next Wednesday in Muscat.

The symposium, to be organised by Sohar Aluminium in collaboration with the Environment Authority, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of Oman's aluminium scrap recycling sector by exploring the latest practices and developing operational mechanisms within the industry, alongside a review of key recommendations from the previous two editions.

The event is expected to draw broad participation exceeding 100 attendees, representing various relevant entities, including government institutions, private sector companies involved in the aluminium industry, aluminium scrap collection and recycling, and industrial waste management in the Sultanate of Oman.

The symposium will feature specialised working papers, visual presentations, and recent studies, as well as panel discussions involving a number of experts, specialists, and representatives of leading organisations in the aluminium industry, including the Gulf Aluminium Council.

Discussions will also address major global trends and challenges in the recycling sector, explore ways to enhance local added value and investment opportunities—particularly those related to small and medium enterprises—alongside a focus on best practices in sustainability, safety, and governance associated with the industry.
