Air India, Indigo suspend all Middle East flights, including Oman

Muscat: Air India and Indigo Airlines suspended all flights to destinations across the Middle East following the evolving security situation in parts of the region, the airlines announced in travel advisories.

The airlines said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and crew amid developing regional tensions.

“All Air India flights to all destinations in the Middle East have been suspended,” the airline said, adding that it remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards in its operations.

The airline noted that it will continue to closely monitor the security environment and may adjust flight operations proactively depending on developments on the ground.
Air India said its teams are extending necessary assistance to affected passengers, including support related to travel changes and updates.

Passengers have been advised to check the status of their flights through the airline’s official website before travelling and to contact Air India’s 24-hour call centres for further information.

Indigo Airlines also issued an advisory, "In view of evolving airspace restrictions around Iran and Middle East, all flights to and from Middle East are cancelled till 0000hrs. These measures have been instituted as the safety and security of our customers and crew is our highest priority. Our teams are continuously monitoring the evolving situation and recalibrating operations to minimise disruption as much as possible."

A slew of global airlines have canceled flights to various destinations across the Middle East amid the volatile security situation in the region.

German carrier Lufthansa suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv in Israel, Beirut in Lebanon, and Oman until March 7 and flights to and from Dubai on Saturday and Sunday. The airline also said it would not add Israeli, Lebanese, Jordanian, Iraqi and Iranian airspace until March 7.

The suspension is expected to impact travel across key Gulf routes frequently used by Indian expatriates, including passengers travelling to and from Oman and other countries in the region.

Further updates are expected as authorities and airlines continue to assess the situation.
