Dialogue forum to discuss how to build a more integrated Gulf economy

Muscat: The Oman Business Forum, affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, will hold its third trade dialogue session of the year on Tuesday, titled "Exploring the Advantage of the Gulf Cooperation Council: Between Cooperation and Competition."

With the participation of a group of experts and economic leaders, the forum will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science in Muscat,

The session will address the importance of Gulf regional cooperation in light of global economic changes and its role in promoting industrial integration, digital transformation, economic diversification, and sustainability, particularly with the move towards linking energy corridors, digital infrastructure, and logistics services between GCC countries.

The session will focus on discussing how to build a more interconnected and integrated Gulf economy through cooperation in the fields of circular economy, energy, technology, and human resources, in addition to examining the role of joint industrial policies in achieving a sustainable competitive advantage for the region.

His Highness HH Sayyid Dr. Adham bin Turki Al Said. emphasised that regional cooperation is no longer based solely on shared borders or converging markets, but rather on shared goals.

Future challenges and opportunities in digital integration, energy transformation, and sustainable growth require more interconnected thinking and more coordinated action, which is what the "Trade Dialogues" sessions seek to achieve through dialogue and active participation, he said.

His Highness added in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the session came at a time when the Sultanate of Oman is working to strengthen its position as a regional hub linking markets and a destination for sustainable industries, as part of its ongoing efforts to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040 in economic diversification and building a knowledge-based economy, partnerships, and regional integration.

It's worth noting that this year's "Trade Dialogues" initiative includes four dialogue sessions, two of which have already been implemented. These sessions will discuss various topics related to trade, investment opportunities, and related developments at the local and international levels, with the aim of raising awareness and exchanging views with participants.

A select group of speakers and representatives from the public and private sectors in the Sultanate of Oman will participate.
