Muscat: Total electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 9.4 percent to reach 35,973.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) by the end of August 2025, compared to 32,891 GWh in the same period in 2024.
Preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that net electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman—which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company by region—increased by 9 percent to 34,857.4 gigawatt-hours by the end of August 2025, compared to 31,990.1 gigawatt-hours by the end of August 2024.
On the other hand, water production in the Sultanate of Oman reached approximately 342.70 million cubic metres by the end of August 2025, a decrease of 1 percent compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 346.25 million cubic metres.
At the governorate level, Muscat Governorate witnessed a decrease in water production by 11.2 percent, reaching 136.57 million compared to 153.77 million cubic metres during the same period last year. Meanwhile, water production in Dhofar Governorate increased by 3.4 percent, reaching 50.94
