Muscat— The Shura Council today explored ways to enhance technical cooperation and knowledge exchange with experts from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), alongside discussions on shared issues, particularly those related to developing national legislation in line with international human rights standards.
Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Sa’adi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Committee of the Shura Council, praised the OHCHR’s role in supporting global human rights principles. He reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to protecting human rights within its national vision and existing laws.
On their turn, the experts expressed satisfaction with Oman’s legislation, noting its alignment with UN objectives. They also reviewed the procedures followed in discussing draft laws and proposals during council sessions.
