Muscat: President Aleksandr Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus and his accompanying delegation today visited the National Museum, within the context of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The President of Belarus and his accompanying delegation toured the museum and took note of its galleries that highlight Oman’s cultural heritage from the earliest human settlement in Oman till the present day.
At the outset of the visit, Jamal Hassan Al Moosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum gave a presentation summarizing areas of cultural cooperation between the National Museum and the Belarusian side.
Then, the President toured the museum’s different galleries which represent important aspects of the history and civilization of Oman. Most notably, he toured the Land and the People Gallery, the Prehistory and Ancient History Gallery, Splendours of Islam Gallery, Oman and the World Gallery and the Renaissance Gallery.
PresidentAleksandr Lukashenko also went on tour of the Sultan Qaboos bin Said`s Corner (the Dearest and Purest of Men) and viewed the original letter No. 1 (Letter of Will) addressed by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the Royal Family Council through the Defense Council.
At the conclusion of the visit, the guest recorded a word in the Museum’s senior visitors’ register, in which he underscored the importance of visiting the museum in a bid to enhance cultural cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus.
The President of the Republic of Belarus was accompanied during his visit to the National Museum by Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (Head of the Mission of Honour) and several members of the Mission of Honour.
