Muscat : The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Dhaka held a reception on the occasion of the 54th National Day, in the presence of Abdul Ghaffar bin Abdul Karim Al Balushi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
The ceremony was attended by Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Expatriates Affairs, Dr. Asif Nadhrul, in addition to officials from the Asia Department and the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Bangladesh delivered a speech in which he reviewed the vision of the Sultanate of Oman and the achievements it has made in various fields under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik , referring to the foreign policy adopted by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman based on the foundations of dialogue, tolerance and promoting the values of peace and harmony among countries.
The Ambassador stressed the depth of relations between the two friendly countries and the endeavour to strengthen them in the economic and cultural fields in order to ensure the well-being of the two peoples, indicating that the Sultanate of Oman hosts approximately 700,000 Bangladeshi residents, and that it has signed two long-term agreements to supply Bangladesh with liquefied natural gas.
The ceremony included visual presentations on the Omani Renaissance march and pictures of a number of its ancient landmarks and monuments, in addition to serving some traditional Omani foods.
The ceremony was attended by a number of ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries, heads and representatives of international organisations residing in Bangladesh, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps in Bangladesh. Omani officers affiliated with the National Defence College and the Command and Staff College in Bangladesh also joined the reception with their colleagues from different countries. It was also attended by a number of businessmen, government and military officials, journalists, scholars, religious figures and academics.
