MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,061.43 points, up 0.15 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.39 per cent at 556.10 points.

National Aluminum Product was the top gainer, up by 6.38 per cent. While Oman Fisheries, down 9.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Batinah Power was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while National Aluminum Product was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 440 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.756 million, with more than 6.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded securities, 7 advanced, 15 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR80,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR48,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR32,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,395 points, down 0.03 per cent. The price of Bank Nizwa was the only gainer by 1.05 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment, National Finance, Global Investment Holding, Oman & Emirates Holding and Ominvest were down 2.15 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.54 per cent, 1.37 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,162.71 points, down 0.27 per cent. Prices of NAPI, Construction Materials, Al Anwar Ceramics and Voltamp Energy were up 6.38 per cent, 2.86 per cent, 0.92 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively. Oman Fisheries and Jazeera Steel Product were down 9.33 per cent and 2.06 per cent respectively.

Services Index down by 0.25 per cent before closing at 1,654.86 points. Omantel and National Gas were up 2.17 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, Al Suwadi Power, Muscat Desalinate and Oman National Engineering were down 2.22 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.
