New rotating equipment workshop to cater to Oman and region

Muscat: MAN Diesel and Turbo along with their local partners OHI are setting up a state-of-the-art ‘Rotating Equipment Workshop’ in Rusyal, Oman.
The ground breaking ceremony for this workshop was done by Chief Guest, Raoul Restucci, Managing Director of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in the presence of Dr Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Diesel and Turbo and Maqbool Hameed, Chairman, OHI.
MAN Diesel and Turbo has a sizeable market share for Turbo Machinery in Oman and the region. This workshop was envisioned along with OHI to cater to the needs of the local and regional market.
This workshop will be the centre of competence for ‘high speed balancing’ and will be a one-stop shop for all rotating machinery including high-voltage motor. The plan is to include ‘valve’ repair facility at a later stage. It will also accommodate a training centre to cater to the needs of young Omani Engineers which will eventually result in knowledge transfer.
In addition, the workshop will offer high class storage facility for ‘capital spares’ ensuring that they are readily available for use, without having to spend time and money to check on its usability.

Dr Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo, said, "Investment in the construction of a further service shop in the region will enable us to offer PDO even better local service as a respected customer. The workshop is estimated to be operational within 16 months.
