Oman, China business heads explore avenues

Shanghai: With the participation of more than 40 Omani businessmen from the different sectors, Oman and Chinese Business Forum started in Shanghai, China yesterday.
During the forum, the Omani and Chinese businessmen reviewed the investment, economic and business opportunities and exchanged views on a number of issues related to developing cooperation and investment between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the Forum, organised by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Shanghai Inter-Continental Hotel, the Omani businessmen, who were briefed on the available business opportunities, gave an overview to the Chinese businessmen on the available investment opportunities in the Sultanate in general and the Special Economic Zone in Duqm in particular, as well as the business opportunities provided by the Omani ports to the logistic sector.
Said bin Saleh Al Kayoumi, Chairman of OCCI board delivered a speech where he said that the value of Omani exports to China in 2014 stood at about OMR8.803 billion compared to OMR540.5 Million imports from China.
He called on the Omani delegation members to ensure the maximum benefit from the available business opportunities.
On his part, Abdullah bin Saleh Al Sa’adi, Sultanate’s accredited Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China delivered a speech where he hailed the historic relation between the Sultanate and China.
Business opportunities
He pointed out that the two countries have promising business opportunities that should be properly utilized to promote the bilateral relations.
On the sidelines of the forum, a visual presentation was given on the available business opportunities in SEZD and the incentives provided by the Zone to investors.
During the forum, two oil and gas agreements between Abu Hatim Group and two Chinese companies were signed. The agreements were related to supply and installation of pipes.
It should be noted that the delegation’s program includes a number of visits to free zones in China and business to business meetings to introduce the available business opportunities in the Sultanate.

Al Kiyoumi hails historic relations with China

Said bin Saleh Al Kiyumi, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) met with Ji Xiaodong, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce (SFIC), on the sidelines of the Omani-Chinese Businessmen Forum, which began at the InterContinental Shanghai Hotel on Monday.
The two sides discussed means of enhancing the volume of economic relations between the two countries, in addition to supporting various efforts to promote the level of these relations through implementing joint projects.
They also discussed exchanging visits and sharing experience between the two countries, besides reviewing the main points to develop cooperation fields in the future.
Al Kiyoumi stressed the global economic importance of China and its economic development being witnessed at various levels, hailing the historic relations binding the Sultanate with China.
On his turn, the SFIC Vice-Chairman welcomed the Omani businessmen, stressing that such meeting open new avenues to discuss various cooperation areas.
The meeting was attended by Abdullah bin Saleh Al Sa’adi, Sultanate’s ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
