Muscat: Within the context of the Royal attention of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the importance of continued cooperation between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman for formulating joint visions and to enhance efforts for the welfare of the Sultanate, a joint meeting of the Council of Ministers and the State Council’s Office was held yesterday.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, and Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.
Also present were members of the Council of Ministers and the Office of the State Council.
At the outset of the meeting, Sayyid Fahd welcomed the Chairman and members of the State Council.
Serving the nation
He commended the valuable efforts of the State Council in conducting studies and offering initiatives and practical proposals which help the government in implementing plans and programmes aimed at serving the national development march under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.
Sayyid Fahd reaffirmed that the ongoing cooperation between the government, the State Council and Majlis Al Shura is considered one of the basic pillars in the nation building process. The efforts being exerted have been greatly appreciated by the government, he said. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the State Council praised the extensive efforts that the government undertakes for continuously developing the state sectors, keeping abreast of requirements of the modern age, meeting the needs of citizens and serving the upcoming generations.
He said that the State Council is working side by side with the government towards achieving the desired goals.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review was made of issues related to social, economic and legal spheres.
For the sake of formulating visions, the two institutions agreed to intensify meetings to enhance the tasks being undertaken by the State Council and the proposals it makes on various issues.
Also appreciated were the State Council’s studies and its role in spreading awareness aimed at safeguarding typical Omani values, fostering citizenship and addressing some alien phenomena to limit their impact on the young generation.
The Chairman and members of the State Council expressed their pride over the invaluable Royal confidence with which His Majesty the Sultan entrusted them while they serve the blessed march of development. They also thanked the Council of Ministers for appreciating their efforts.
