Muscat: With the bank’s purpose of promoting the spirit of ‘Winning’ and bringing positive socioeconomic change by promoting Oman as an International Sporting Destination, Sohar International sponsored the Oman Open 2020 as Gold Sponsors. The event is being organized by the Oman Open Tournament Committee and the Oman Golf Association and serves as a good platform to promote the Sultanate as an international sporting and tourism destination on the global map.
Speaking about promoting Oman as a future sporting destination, Mr Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar International said, “With golf being considered a global sport, the 2020 Oman Open helps places Oman on a global map as one of the top sports destinations. He further added, “This gold sponsorship for the second year in a row comes as a statement towards the bank’s continued efforts in supporting the government’s efforts of promoting Oman as a thriving sport tourism destination and its drive to achieve optimal economic diversification across diverse avenues.”
The event will be held at Al Mouj Golf in Muscat from February 27th to March 1st 2020. This is the third edition of the event with the previous two editions held at the same location. This edition too is expected to receive a great turnout of participants from across the world. The event is estimated to make a significant impact to the economic scenario of the country with an estimated value of USD 26 million with 1,912 hours of dedicated broadcast coverage in addition to exceptional print and online coverage.
By supporting such global level sporting events, Sohar International has been actively supporting initiatives that strengthen the position of Oman on the world map and highlight the country’s various assets through sponsorships, public representation and financial support. Sohar international had also sponsored the Gulf Snooker and Billiards Championship held in Muscat, Oman with similar objectives.
