Muscat: An employment agency that provided domestic help to customers was closed down in Al Dakhiliyah governorate after many complaints.
According to a statement issued by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), the Court of First Instance in Bahla ordered to shutdown the agency and fined OMR 1,550 after it received complaints of duping the customers.
“The agency in Bahla promised to bring domestic workers and took advance payments as deposits but failed to adhere to their promise. They had informed the customers that the workers would arrive within a few weeks and it did not happen. The customers neither received their money back. They failed the complaint with PACP and ww took the necessary steps and referred the case to the Public Prosecution,” PACP said.
Upon investigation, it was found that the agency was convicted for similar incidents. “The court ordered the agency to pay the fine of OMR 900 for violating the consumer law and also ordered to pay OMR 1,550 to the customers and ordered to shutdown the office,” the statement added.
