Cairo: The 23rd Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) kicked off at the Arab League headquarters today.
The Sultanate is taking part in the two-day conference by a delegation headed by Khalid bin Hilal al-Ma'awali, Chairman of Majlis A'Shura.
The conference discusses the parliamentary role in facing risks and current challenges at the region, as well as the joint cooperation among the parliaments to upgrade the legislative aspects in the Arab countries to meet aspirations of their peoples, in addition to supporting relations of Arab cooperation particularly in parliamentary fields.
The conference also discusses the AIPU action plan and its draft budget for 2016, as well as discussing reports of the AIPU committees.
