Muscat: Omani pilgrims planning to travel to Mecca to perform Haj can register their application at www.hajj.om which will be open from April 10 till 24, the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs said in a statement.
“Registration can be done in three ways, either by manually entering the civil identification number, scanning the ID by using a card reader which uses the PKI encryption system or by entering the mobile phone number which uses PKI encryption for identification,” said the statement.
People will also be able to register through Sanad office and Departments of Endowment and Religious Affairs in all Governorates.
Male registrants must register first, followed by females in order to ensure the availability of their chosen guardian in the system.
The responsible authority will accept the registration through ID numbers given that the card is active for a minimum of 10 months and the passport is active for a minimum of 10 months as well.
“Haj performers must be at least 18 years of age and must provide all the documents necessary for the Hajj when the ministry asks for it,” said the statement.
“Registering for the holy pilgrimage doesn’t guarantee a spot for everyone as the ministry needs to approve priorities and give an opportunity to those who have not performed the Haj before. The ministry will directly and officially contact the persons involved in either cases,” the statement added.
The ministry will take a limited number of people to Mecca for the Haj according to the number limited by Saudi Arabian authorities for Oman.
Those who have been given a place to travel to Mecca will be notified by text messages.
“The ministry reserves the right to deny any applicant who does not provide the correct information during registration,” said the statement.
