Arab League thanks Oman for hosting Libya constitution drafting panel meeting

Cairo: Arab League has appreciated and thanked the Sultanate for hosting the meetings of the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly in Salalah under the aegis of the United Nations (UN).
Ahmed bin Heli, Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League said in a statement yesterday, “We thank and appreciate the Sultanate for hosting the team in-charge of drafting the new Libyan constitution. This is an estimated effort from an Arab country that seeks to help the Libyan brothers who are in dire need for such help”.
He pointed out that the meetings are very important to start the work of the national reconciliation government. He added that drafting the articles of the constitution is an important step in the building of the Libyan national.
“The Arab League is conducting negotiations with all relevant parties to support the reconciliation government and empower it to carry out its missions related to restoring peace and stability and taking Libya out of this crisis at the earliest,” he further said.
Dialogue
Meanwhile, the dialogue sessions on drafting the Libyan constitution continued at Rotana Resort in Salalah on Monday amid an atmosphere that bodes well for reaching a national reconciliation on the issue.
Martin Kobler, Special Representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary General who attended part of the sessions of the Libyan dialogue said that the parties of the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly had cut half way towards reaching an accord.
Legal experts are making efforts to assist Libyan brothers to come out from Salalah meetings with positive outcomes as the Sultanate has provided them with the conducive environment for talks.
