Gulf College launches new MBA programme with five pathways

Muscat: Gulf College launched a new Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme with five pathways: Project Management, Finance, Islamic Finance, Marketing and Health Sector Management. Students can study a British MBA at the college without taking a break from their career.
In line with the efforts of Ministry of Higher Education, Oman to provide a range of academic programmes through private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) which cater to the needs of the job market and economic development, Gulf College has taken this sincere initiative to launch the new MBA programme. In this regard, the college dean with members of the College Board and Students Council met twice with a significant number of alumni of several local and international colleges and universities who are keen to pursue their postgraduate studies. The two sessions were held at Gulf College recently. During these sessions, detailed presentations were done about the programme.
Gulf College will deliver the MBA programme both on a full-time and part-time basis through a franchise arrangement, which has been signed with the Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
This type of arrangement is considered the most robust academic affiliation where students get their rights and benefits similar to those students who are enrolled on-campus at the university. The lecturers from the university and the academic staff from the college will carry out the teaching at the purpose-built campus of Gulf College in Muscat. The university lecturers would be visiting Gulf College every 10 weeks to deliver the MBA modules and would be in contact with students. Each module will be taught for 48 hours spread over two consecutive weeks. Classes will be held for 24 hours per week over three days: Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Teaching materials, assessment methods and quality assurance procedures for the MBA Programme would be the same as that at the university at the United Kingdom. The only difference for the students’ on-campus at the university and at Gulf College would be the venues. In addition, the college would have the same quality assurance standards as that at the university in addition to the local requirements of the Ministry of Higher Education, Sultanate of Oman.
Students who would successfully achieve the MBA programme with their chosen pathway would be issued certificates by the university. Further, students at Gulf College would get all the privileges at par with students’ on-campus at the university and these include access to e-library and direct communication with the university.
