More than 2,000 soft drink cans go pop after Oman raids

Muscat: The food inspection team at Muscat Municipality has destroyed 2,016 cans of soft drinks and bottled drinking water, which had been stored in unhealthy conditions.
In cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, the inspectors conducted a raid on a residential house in Al Khuwair following a report that a residential house was being used to store food and to carry out commercial activities without a municipality permit.
The items were stored in unhealthy conditions and in commercial quantities. The team destroyed about 2,016 cans of soft drinks and bottled drinking water, and legal measures were taken in accordance with the provisions of administrative decision regarding violations of the Muscat Municipality law.
The Muscat Municipality calls consumers to report any similar offences by contacting the Muscat Telecommunications Center 1111, or through the municipality's pages on social networking sites or through Baladiyati App on smartphones.
It also emphasises on efforts in monitoring all commercial activities related to public health, ensuring compliance with municipal laws, and the health requirements set out in the Local Order for the Protection of Public Health.
