Fine and suspended sentence over faulty goods sale in Oman

Sur: A heavy fine and a suspended prison sentence were issued by a Sur court for consumer law violations.
A consumer filed a complaint to the Department of Consumer Protection in Sur against a vehicle accessory shop.
The consumer bought an accessory worth OMR 200 from the store without receiving a receipt or proof of sale. A week after installing the accessory, air was leaking from it and rust was evident.
The consumer went back to the store and negotiated a deal to fix the fault but the fault persists even after multiple repairs. As a result the consumer filed a complaint requesting to be reimbursed the money paid for the accessory.
The Department of Consumer Protection launched an investigation over the issue and referred the case to the preliminary court in Sur.
The court fined the store owner OMR 100 for failing to produce a receipt or bill of purchase and a suspended prison sentence of three months including an OMR 2000 fine for failing to take back the faulty product.
