Muscat: Challenges facing the Omani economy at present due to oil price slump were among the main issues discussed at a joint meeting of the State Council’s Economic Committee and Majlis Al Shura’s Economic and Financial Committee.
The meeting was part of the continuous cooperation between Majlis Al Shura and the State Council at the different legislative and oversight area.
The joint meeting discussed a number of proposals that will enhance the cooperation and coordination between the two committees, especially with relation to conducting economic and financial studies on their agenda.
The meeting of also discussed a number of challenges facing the Omani economy at present due to oil price slump, especially those related to diversifying the sources of income and following up the implementation of the five-year plan and enhancing the role played by the private
sector in the growth of the national economy.
The importance of implementing the recommendations of the studies by the relevant organisations was also stressed during
the meeting.
