Two arrested for setting cars on fire in Oman

Muscat: Two Omani nationals were arrested by the Royal Oman Police in Wilayat Shinas for setting fire to three cars inside the compound of a house.
The Directorate General of Inquiries and Investigations, representing North Al Batinah ROP, arrested two nationals for allegedly setting fire to three vehicles.
A senior official said, “The accused entered the victim’s house at night and set three vehicles on fire and after initial investigations with the suspects, they confessed their crime.”
According to the Oman Penal Code, article 270 states, “Anyone who sets fire to public or private facilities, land, sea, or air transport means, oil fields or facilities, or inhabited or non-inhabited houses, either owned by him or not, or who deliberately sets fire to anything at proximity of the said places so as fire can easily extend thereto shall be sentenced to imprisonment from seven to fifteen years”.
