Muscat: Consumer protection authorities collected more than OMR132,000 from businesses and refunded them to consumers in Dhofar the third quarter of 2016.
The amount was collected by the Consumer Protection Department in Dhofar Governorate represented by the Complaints Division covered a number of sectors.
The maximum collection of OMR115,510 was from the motor vehicle and associated services sector. It was followed by mobile phone and services sector (OMR4,080), labour sector (OMR3,900), workshops sector (OMR3,200), watches, jewellery and accessories sector (OMR1,850), electronic and electrical appliances sector (OMR1,775), furniture and furnishing sector (OMR1,650) contracting and construction sector (OMR640) and other services sector (OMR 100).
Jaguar recall
Seventy-six Jaguar cars have been recalled by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in cooperation with Mohsin Haider Darwish (MHD) Llc. The reason for recall of Jaguar (XF) and (XJ) cars is a defect in the central secondary pulley of the transmission belt. The company will work on replacement of the affected parts.
The recall of such cars comes as part of efforts of the PACP in the field of traffic safety and its keenness for continued checking of all products in the Sultanate. -ONA
