Oman Cricket: Chalumbeezz Cricket Team rope in Shifa Al Jazeera as jersey sponsors

Muscat: Chalumbeezz Cricket Team unveiled their jersey sponsored by Shifa Al Jazeera Group during a ceremony organised at Foodlands Restaurant in Al Khuwair recently.
Aslam Backar, Global Personal General Manager of Al Jazeera Group, unveiled the team jersey in the presence of a large gathering.
Chalumbeezz, a household name among the cricket lovers from Thalassery in the south Indian state of Kerala, has already made their mark by winning several local tournaments in the last few years.
They were the champions of the inaugural Thalassery Premier League and were also the runners-up last year. Chelumbeezz will now play some of the top local tournaments in the upcoming season.
“Our first tournament of this season will Nujoom Trophy and we also have several tournaments on cards,” said Azeem Ashraf, vice-captain of Chalumbeezz Cricket Team.
Chalumbeezz, according to Azeem, has plans to play in the Oman Cricket League soon.
“Our dream is to play in the League and by having such a huge sponsor like Shifa Al Jazeera Group, I think we are almost closer to playing in the League soon,” Azeem added.
Speaking at the event, Aslam Backer said: “We are always on the forefront in supporting several great initiatives and we are indeed happy to support Chalumbeezz Cricket Team.”
“It’s been nine years since we formed this team and we want to take Chalumbeezz to the next level and here we are. It’s quite a special feeling when you have your own team jersey with the logo on it. It certainly motivates you to play and also fly high,” said Anwar Sadath, a player in Chalumbeezz team.
“All of us are passionate about the game and we make sure to play every week even if we do not have any tournaments. Cricket is more than a game for us,” said Shehbaz Nasar, the star player of Chalumbeezz.
