Dubai(UAE): Dubai has declared a 10-day period of official mourning following the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, on Monday, September 21, 2026.
The Court of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, confirmed that flags will fly at half-mast across the emirate during the mourning period.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paid a moving tribute to his late younger brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security.
Expressing profound grief in a heartfelt statement shared on social media platform X, Sheikh Mohammed honoured his brother's memory, writing that while Sheikh Ahmed is absent from sight, he remains forever present in the family's prayers and hearts.
