Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has seized and confiscated nearly 53,000 non-compliant tobacco products during a raid on a residential property in Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, carried out in cooperation with Sur Police Station.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 6,745 bags and packages of smokeless chewing tobacco and 47,227 packs of cigarettes that failed to meet the approved standards and specifications.
According to the CPA, the confiscated products included large quantities of smokeless chewing tobacco and cigarettes that violated the Sultanate of Oman's approved quality and safety regulations.
All seized items have been confiscated, and the necessary legal procedures have been initiated against those involved.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumers by intensifying market inspections and taking strict action against the sale and distribution of products that do not comply with approved standards and specifications.
