
Muscat--- Oman Broadband Company (OBB) signed several cooperation agreements today with developers of integrated residential neighbuorhoods under the "Sorouh" initiative, which is supervised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the 21st edition of Oman Real Estate, Design & Build Exhibition and Conference 2026 currently being held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
The agreements aim to provide residential development projects with fibre optic infrastructure services, thereby enhancing the readiness of modern urban plans and supporting the development of integrated and sustainable residential communities across various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
These partnerships come within the framework of strengthening integration between government and private entities and real estate developers to provide an integrated digital infrastructure and high-speed fiber optic networks in residential projects from the initial planning stages. This contributes to increasing service efficiency, improving quality of life, and supporting digital transformation paths.
Eng. Khalfan Mohammed Al Amri, Deputy CEO of Technology at Oman Broadband Company, explained that these agreements represent a significant step in strengthening the company's partnerships with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and residential project developers. He emphasized that the company’s efforts are ongoing to expand high-speed fiber optic network coverage to include various new urban plans, ensuring digital readiness from the early stages and contributing to building sustainable smart cities that support digital transformation in the Sultanate of Oman.
For his part, Nasser Khamis Al Siyabi, Director General of Real Estate Development at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, confirmed that these agreements bolster joint efforts with Oman Broadband Company, the "Sorouh" initiative, and real estate development companies to provide advanced digital infrastructure in residential development projects from their inception. This supports the development of modern, sustainable urban plans and prosperous communities that align with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
