Nizwa: Works of the Specialized Artisanal Incubator Lab in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate commenced today at the Nizwa Cultural Center. Organized by the SMEs Development Authority “Riyada” in the governorate, the lab aims to establish the fundamental pillars for an advanced artisanal incubator in the Wilayat of Nizwa. This initiative seeks to empower artisans and enhance the efficiency of craft production through the utilization of modern technologies.
Shabib Abdullah Al Shukaili, Head of the SMEs Development Department at the Riyada office in the governorate, stated that the lab aims to involve the community and artisans in defining the components of the specialized artisanal incubator. He added that the work focuses on building a genuine community partnership to achieve the incubator's objectives and ensure the optimal development of the craft sector through interactive dialogue between decision-makers, experts, and artisans, making the lab a nucleus for the incubator based on effective community partnership.
The organization of this lab comes within Riyada’s direction to develop the craft sector and enhance its economic and social contribution, thereby bolstering the competitiveness of Omani craft products both locally and internationally. Through its sessions, the lab seeks to identify target crafts, inventory necessary machinery and technical equipment, and design specialized training programs, in addition to reviewing the aspirations of youth in the creative craft industries sector.
The lab involves extensive community cooperation and partnership with the participation of A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and the University of Nizwa to ensure the integration of efforts and the development of incubator outputs in accordance with market requirements.
In its future vision, the incubator aims to create an integrated work environment that supports craft innovation and converts traditional projects into sustainable, economically viable ventures that support the national economy.
