Muscat: Amid dull trading volumes, the MSM 30 Index gained 0.36 per cent to close at 5,748.56 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 887 points, up 0.17 per cent.
Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. With a gain of 1.75 per cent, Bank Sohar was the top gainer while Ahli Bank was the top loser, down 1.08 per cent.
As many as 320 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR1.5 million with 7.48 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded securities, 13 advanced, 2 declined and 17 remained unchanged. Arab and GCC investors switched to net buyers to the tune of OMR21,000 worth shares, followed by Omani investors at OMR2,000. Foreign investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR23,000.
Financial Index ended at 7,364.04 points, up 0.30 per cent. Bank Sohar, Al Madina Investments, Al Sharqia Investments, Al Madina Takaful and Bank Muscat gained 1.75 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 1.41 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively. Ahli Bank and Oman United Insurance declined 1.08 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.21 per cent to close at 7,503.09 points. Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium, Galfar Engineering, Al Jazeera Steel and Voltamp Energy increased 1.67 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 0.97 per cent, 0.84 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 3,128.48 points, up 0.24 per cent. Phoenix Power and Omantel gained 1.39 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively.
