Public Prosecution warns against circulating content that disrupts public order

Muscat: The Public Prosecution has called on all citizens, residents and social media users to refrain from filming, publishing or circulating videos, images or information related to accidents, sites and facilities, or any content that could undermine public security or cause panic within the community.

In a statement issued following observations of an increasing pace of posts and online interactions that violate the law, the Public Prosecution stressed that the move stems from its responsibility to enforce the provisions of the penal laws and safeguard public order.

It further affirmed that publishing or republishing rumours and unreliable information will expose those responsible to legal accountability in accordance with the applicable laws.
