
Muscat: The number of projects financed by the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, in cooperation with relevant entities within the food security ecosystem, reached 13 during 2025.
These projects covered the agricultural, fisheries, and water resources sectors, with a total value of OMR2.4 million.
This financing comes as part of the Fund's ongoing efforts to support projects with a developmental impact, enhance local production, and achieve the targets of food security and Oman Vision 2040.
Hanan Said Al Sulaimi, Executive Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the total number of developmental projects across various sectors financed by the Fund over the past five years in the Sultanate of Oman reached approximately 64 projects, valued at more than OMR10.6 million.
This financing was distributed among key sectors, with the value of financed agricultural projects reaching approximately OMR6.5 million, while OMR2.2 million was allocated to the fisheries sector. The livestock sector received about OMR1.2 million, and the water resources sector stood at approximately OMR312,000, in addition to projects related to food safety and quality, which were valued at OMR285,000.
She noted that recent years witnessed the financing of a group of developmental projects in the food security sector, including initiatives to enhance local production, develop aquaculture, improve value chains and marketing, and implement projects based on innovation and sustainability.
She explained that the Fund, through its objectives and financing plans, works to support several primary pillars of Oman Vision 2040, most notably the labor market and employment, economic diversification, financial sustainability, and the protection of the environment and natural resources.
This is in addition to enhancing the governance of the state’s administrative apparatus and supporting resources and projects with a sustainable developmental impact.
She further clarified that the cooperation between the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is strategic and integrated, aiming to support and develop the sectors of agriculture, fisheries, water resources, and food safety and quality to achieve food security in accordance with national objectives.
