Council of Ministers approves policy for advance annual holiday schedule

Muscat: The Council of Ministers in Oman has approved a new policy mandating the annual advance announcement of national and religious holidays at the start of each new year. The initiative aims to enhance institutional and administrative planning across government and private sectors.

According to a statement, the policy excludes Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays, which will continue to be announced based on the official lunar calendar determinations by the moon-sighting committee.

The Ministry emphasised that the move is expected to yield positive outcomes, including improved scheduling of daily, quarterly, and annual operations, and minimising conflicts between holidays and major local or international events organised by public or private entities.
