Oman renews its support for inalienable rights of the Palestinian people

Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman renewed its firm position supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

In a statement during the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People event, delivered by Ambassador Idris Abdul Rahman Al-Khanjari, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and International Organizations, stressed the importance of this day, which falls on November 29, and which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1977, as an expression of the international community’s commitment to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

His Excellency added that since the adoption of this International Day, the suffering of the Palestinian people continues under the weight of occupation and illegal measures, including restrictions on freedom of movement, illegal settlement, forced displacement, and attacks on holy sites, practices that constitute a flagrant violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

His Excellency said that the Sultanate of Oman expresses its deep concern regarding these practices, affirming its continued support for the Palestinian people in obtaining their legitimate rights and achieving their national aspirations.

His Excellency pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman calls upon the international community, on this day which embodies the symbolism of global solidarity, to fulfill its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and to take practical and decisive steps to reduce these violations, and to create the appropriate conditions for achieving a just and lasting peace that restores to the Palestinian people all their national rights, and enhances security and stability in the region.

His Excellency affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman reiterates its position that true peace will only be achieved through a just and comprehensive settlement based on United Nations resolutions, and guaranteeing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty.

His Excellency concluded his remarks by saying: “The Sultanate of Oman believes that the world today needs more than statements of condemnation; it needs a genuine will to restore justice to its true meaning, human conscience to its voice, and peace to its value. The time has come for solidarity with the Palestinian people to move from mere words to concrete actions, and from postponed promises to deeds that will end a suffering that has lasted far too long.”

The event of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, embodies the international community’s commitment to supporting this people. During the event, the latest developments and escalating challenges they face were reviewed, following a period of escalation and a humanitarian crisis that led to widespread displacement and a tangible deterioration in living conditions in the Gaza Strip.
